We are extremely optimistic about the future of Northside Community Church. We’re not seeking to be a Church that merely maintains its programmes, but rather a Church that is committed to growing and moving forward. We believe God has called us for a special mission both to the local and wider community of Sydney. We desire to see people experience hope and healing through Jesus Christ and His community of believers.
Young Adults and Families Find Northside Attractive:
In recent times we have experienced a significant increase in the number of young families, young adults, children and teenagers. This trend is going to escalate.
One of the primary ways we will bring this healing and hope to our community is through the offering of New Life Courses such as Search for Life, Search for Intimacy, Divorce Recovery for Adults and Kids, Grief Recovery, Sexual Abuse Recovery and many others. Adult Education is also going to be one of the primary missional activities of the church, with courses ranging from basic life, career and ministry matters through to TAFE, University degree, Masters and Doctorate level subjects. Our Ministry Centre is ideal for fulfilling and expanding these missional initiatives.
Northside will continue to be a leader in the use of contemporary artistic media to connect with 21st century Australians. We have found that people often appreciate and respond to spiritual and life truths through the use of multi sensory devices, so these will increasingly be an important component to our services. We also plan to eventually offer additional services to connect with various groups of people in our community.
An expansion of our Connection Group network to include nurture, social and special interest groups will also be an integral part of the future of Northside.
Our increasing emphasis on ministry to the community means that the Pastoral Care of the Church will also be developed and expanded to meet the new demands. In this way, we will express the love, care and concern for people, which we believe to be an integral part of practical Christianity. These developments will also include greater partnership with inner city mission organizations.
We fully acknowledge that the primary purpose of the church is to see people come into a relationship with Jesus Christ, so, Evangelism will always be a key component in the missional work that Northside embarks on in the future.

We believe in the one and only true God. God exists in a community of three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is the sovereign Lord, creator and sustainer of the universe, who himself is without beginning or end. Because of who God is, he sees all, knows all and is everywhere. God is always right, is absolutely loving and, above all things, is Holy.
We believe Jesus is the Son of God and that he was fully God in human form and equal with God, the Father. Jesus was the one whom ancient prophecy said would come to be the Saviour for all people. Jesus lived a sinless life and offered himself as sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose again from the dead, as he predicted he would, after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to reign as Lord and to be judge over humanity.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is equal to God, the Father and God, the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ in their lives. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily. The presence of the Holy Spirit means that the Christian will display fruits of the Spirit as they progressively become more like Jesus in character and they will use gifts given by the Holy Spirit to continue Jesus’ mission to the world.
We believe that the Bible is the divinely inspired word of God. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
We believe that all people were created in the image of God and have the capacity to know the creator God. However, doing things our own way and not God’s way, has caused damage in our capacity to know God and our ability to live life as He would have us.
We believe that people cannot do anything of themselves to rectify the damage that has been done between God and ourselves. The opportunity to draw close to God and know him only comes through faith in Jesus Christ who offers forgiveness for our sins through his sacrifice on the cross. Asking Jesus into our lives and daily surrendering our independence to Him, impacts the way we live now and also secures an Eternity in heaven. This opportunity of reconciliation with God, known as salvation, is a gift from God. People cannot earn their salvation through good words or self improvements.
We believe that there is one true church, comprised of all people who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. The Church is God’s primary way of seeking out the lost and bringing hope and healing to a hurting world. The Church is to reflect the nature of God and as members of this one Church, believers need to gather regularly for worship, prayer, teaching from the Bible, fellowship, and the chance to serve fellow believers and their wider community.

Northside Community Church is affiliated with Churches of Christ in Australia, a mainstream denomination which is known for a number of special emphases,
- The serving of communion at every Sunday service.
- Full immersion baptism for all people who are of an age to make a conscious decision to become a disciple of Jesus Christ and who choose to express their commitment in this way.
- The absence of creeds to recite or statements of faith to sign. The only requirement for partnership with Northside is an open declaration of faith in Jesus Christ.
- Very little distinction between the professional Church Ministers (the clergy) and the people in the congregation (the laity). The Churches of Christ believe strongly that all Christians are ministers of the Good News and so lay people, including women, are regularly involved in all aspects of Sunday services and the wider missional activities of the church.
Churches of Christ in Australia is part of a world wide movement of mainstream Christianity which desires to see a continuation of New Testament church practices and principles such as the centrality of Christ, communion, baptism, teaching and mission.

Northside has a long tradition of having men and women of spiritual strength and maturity serving as Elders. These are drawn from the ranks of the congregation and have particular responsibilities in the areas of Pastoral Care, Prayer Ministry and the development of overall Church policy and procedures.
