Who is Northside Community Church?
Northside was established in 1984 when, three smaller and long established Churches of Christ from the North Shore came together to minister to their wider community. Since that time Northside has a reputation for being a church that:
- Is warm and welcoming
- Communicates the bible in positive, relevant and contemporary ways
- Believes in creating the best environment for people to encounter God
- Provides avenues for people to be empowered and healed in their lives.
Will I stick out?
It is not unusual for us to have around a dozen first time guests at any of our services. So if you are thinking about visiting us this Sunday, you won’t be alone. Our goal is to make you feel welcome, so don’t be surprised if you are not only greeted, but people talk to you. At no stage will we single you out or embarrass you as being our guest. We have done everything we can to take the uncertainty out of visiting a church.
What should I expect at church?
Our Sunday services last for about 90 minutes. Our music team will play a few contemporary worship songs during the service and the words will be on the media screens so feel free to sing or read along and enjoy the music. There will also be times of prayer, the taking of communion, an offering (which guests are in no way obligated to participate in), and a short message. Church continues after the service as people catch up with one another over an espresso coffee and snacks.
What about my kids?
We know that as a parent you need to be sure that your children are in a SAFE learning environment. We also want kids to have FUN at church as well. Northside wants to make sure we reach both of these goals. During our Sunday morning services we have supervised activities for kids from walking age right up to year six. We also have a youth program for teenagers. To ensure the highest quality of safety all our kids church and youth leaders are approved and trained. There is also a Parents' Room suitable for nursing, baby changing and infant play.
What should I wear?
We are more concerned with meeting your real life needs than with what you wear. If you dress casually, you’ll fit right in.
How will I find my way around?
We have a number of people each service who will be in our foyer to greet people and to direct them to any part of the facility. The Information Desk in our foyer will be able to answer most of your questions not only about our facility and the service but other aspects of Northside’s weekly activities as well. If you are still unsure about anything just ask someone and chances are they will be able to help you.
